You are cordially invited to participate in Ben's Brewing Co.'s first-annual Moustache Contest!

$5 Donation for each participant, with all proceeds going to the Heartland Humane Society.

The Rules:

You must be clean shaven for the start date of November 15^th. Stop down to Ben's between 5 - 7pm to register and be photographed.
Goatees, beards, and any moustache that joins the sideburns are illegal! No hair below the lower lip.
Participants must stop in or submit a picture of their progress every Monday by 7pm.
The contest ends on December 15^th and will be judged by moustache connoisseurs.
The winner will receive a $100 bar tab from Ben's Brewing Co.
Those not manly enough to participate are encouraged to donate $5 for the Heartland Humane Society.

While vodka's goal is to be colorless, odorless and tasteless, gin is infused will all kinds of botanicals and flavors to make you're drinking less boring. Hendrick's Gin is a little harder to find and a little more expensive, but it's well worth the search. Made in Scotland, it clocks in at 88 proof. WEST VIEW, Pa. — Only minutes after Prohibition died in 1933, Angelo Cammarata, 19, served a 10-cent bottle of Fort Pitt beer to a customer in his father's neighborhood grocery.

Ever since, except for a 30-month hitch during World War II, the son of Italian immigrants has been tending bar and serving drinks. Guinness World Records dubbed him the longest-serving bartender a decade ago, and he's earned induction into Jim Beam's Bartender Hall of Fame and numerous other honors.

Now 95, he's calling it quits.

Donny Dirk's Zombie Den is a zombie themed bar in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The stunning new interior comes straight out of a 1950s Las Vegas lounge (the classic part). The zombie stuff (i.e. the kitsch) is hilarious, and more nuanced than you'd expect from a bar named Donny Dirk's Zombie Den. In the corner, a small chainsaw sits inside a glass case that reads "In case of zombie attack, break glass." The bartenders all dress like Simon Pegg in "Shaun of the Dead" -- white button-up, red tie and blood stains. The friendly female servers wear long black gowns. Again: This is a classy zombie joint.

Seems like a great idea if you think your bar is watering down your drinks. But, unless you regularly drink JB, Havana Club, or one of the other four brands the device is familiar with, you have to go back to the old system - trust.

A few days ago, I told you about my neighbor who I called crazy. I still think it's nuts that he has taken a lawnmower deck and attached it to a trailer 50" off the ground... It's what he calls a hedge trimmer.

But I met Ray today and asked him about his invention. He told me that he is an old man an he needs to keep his hedges trimmed, but the old way was destined to kill him. He lives next to a busy highway in Yankton and he thinks it's important to have a buffer between the street and his house. But because his hedges are so big, he was forced to stand on a trailer and have his daughter drive it ahead while he ran the hedge trimmers. As he got older, he would lose his balance when his daughter accelerated. He told me he almost broke his neck once and had to come up with a better solution.

He said he hasn't really thought about how much time he's put into the contraption. He feels it's very safe. In the original pictures I shared ( http://hanten.posterous.com/a-sign-you-have-a-crazy-neighbor ) you probably noticed there is a little mesh grate at the bottom of the trailer. I learned today that this actually attaches to the back of the riding lawn mower to protect his head from any branches.

I asked him about the sides of his hedges. He said he's been searching for an Old Lawn Boy mower that doesn't have a separate fuel and oil tanks. Then, he believes, it could be rotated to do all sides of the hedges. He also looked at getting a sickle mower, but those were pushing $600. "I could hire it done for that." His other memorable quote was, "This isn't for everyone. If you had somebody running it who wasn't watching it every second, they'd probably kill themselves."

We asked 120 bar customers last Friday whether they would rather take 10 slaps now or 5 slaps at random, unknown times. 62% chose 10 slaps now. This ridiculous question was first addressd on the TV show "How I Met Your Mother," but it does really tell you something about people. Are they stressed and don't want something else to worry about? Do they live one day at a time and don't really care what comes their way?

My next door neighbor takes a lawnmower deck, some pipe, chains and welding supplies to make a hedge trimmer he can pull behind his riding lawn mower. Yes, that's right. He has made a trailer with a real gas lawn mower deck attached on the side so that he can trim his bushes in the most lazy way possible.
